In Memes in Digital Culture, Limor Shifman defines memes as ‘small cultural units of transmission and derived from Greek mimema signifying 'something which is imitated'’. Succinct and sarcastic, memes provide an accessible way to offer widespread critique of culture. Mimema is a virtual space that explores memes, digital space, and online personas.
Mimema was part of Platforms Project in Athens, Greece, 2021.
